"China has made enormous strides over the past decades in overcoming hunger and alleviating poverty. Between 1990 and 2015, China lifted more than 700 million people out of poverty, contributing immensely to the global poverty eradication effort. This unprecedented success in alleviating poverty and hunger domestically is truly remarkable," said Nicholas Rosellini, UN resident coordinator. "Unsurprisingly, many developing countries seek to learn from China and find ways to mirror China's success throughout the developing world."

"China has always been conducting favorable policies and it will further enhance its appeal to foreign investors, thereby combating the decline in advantages China used to have and the fierce competition for foreign investment from other countries," he said.

"China has enough policy reserves of conventional measures and does not need to follow some advanced economies to enact nonconventional measures, such as zero interest rate or even negative interest rate," said Dong Jinyue, China economist of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, a Spanish bank.

"China is a huge country and huge economy, it gives hope to the smaller countries like the Philippines because China is thinking this way. This is the right way," Lopez said.

"China is undergoing a huge demographic shift, with the proportion of its elderly population aged over 65 on track to grow from 10 percent (of total population) today to 24 percent by 2050," said Domenico Savarese, global head of ageing at Swiss Re.
